Anyone who has made a visit to the Warwick Hospital lately would be no stranger to the ongoing battle for parking space. Patients and visitors have long-struggled to find parking at there and the issue has only become worse as the population increases in the region. However, there may be some reprieve with new projects announced by Darling Downs Health.

A Darling Downs Health Spokesperson said, "Earlier this year, an independent engineering report deemed McCarthy House was no longer safe for occupancy, Darling Downs Health made the tough decision to remove the building. A 68-bay carpark is currently under construction at the site and will be complete in the coming weeks".

The Town & Country Journal was able to confirm that the additional carpark bays will be dedicated staff parking, with the intention of freeing up parking spaces on Locke Street.

The spokesperson further said, "In addition to this, a project to refurbish the doctors accommodation building, located on the Warwick Hospital campus is also underway.

The project includes a full renovation of the building, construction of additional bathroom facilities and the installation of new furniture, the refurbishment will be complete by mid-2025".

With the promise of additional parking for staff and newly refurbished accommodations for doctors, Warwick Hospital is set to improve both staff convenience and patient accessibility.
