Members of the Warwick Crime Stoppers group, alongside local business, sponsors and police, gathered for a time of reflection on October 9 to acknowledge their ongoing, successful collaboration within the community.
Crime Stoppers Board Director for Logan and Beaudesert, Andrew Jones noted the rise in certain crimes, saying, “Whilst we are seeing a lot of break-and-enters, thefts and youth crime, there has also been an increase in reports to Crime Stoppers."
Collaboratively, efforts have resulted in an impressive 213,557 digital reports and 163,967 calls to the national hotline between January 1 to December 31, 2023.
It was noted that the information provided helped police make 3,986 arrests and place 9,668 charges.
Mr Jones encouraged people who "hear or see anything suspicious" to give Crime Stoppers a ring, saying, "It is completely anonymous.”
He went on to emphasise that Crime Stoppers is not a police entity but a non-for-profit community volunteer organisation, dedicated to enhancing public safety.
