On Sunday, November 24 the Stanthorpe RSL Sub Branch held their annual Christmas Luncheon at the RSL Services Club. Ninety-one members, partners and guests attended.

Our special guests were Major General Stephen Day DSC AM, Queensland RSL State President and Dennis Pollard, Western District RSL President.

Major General Stephen Day DSC AM presented RSL Life Membership to Graham Cockerall and presented RSL Women’s Auxiliary Life Membership to Jeanette Cockerall and Ingrid Munday. Stanthorpe RSL Sub Branch President, Martin Corbett read out the recipients RSL History and their individual achievements.

Martin Corbett then presented the following Certificates of Appreciation to the following people who unselfishly give their time to volunteer in helping raise much needed funds to help our Granite Belt Veterans and their families.  This includes running our Market Garden Bingo every Friday morning, Friday night Sub Branch Raffles and giving a helping hand transporting veterans to medical appointments, mowing lawns or just having a conversation with them to make sure everything is good.

The recipients were: Ernie Jones, Norm Steele, Peter Beacroft, Robert Swaine, Ray Rankin, Graham Preston, Ken Harrison, Glen Gibson, Mark Winkler, Thomas Cavanagh, Shirley Page, Kay Cockram, Peter Bell and Sandra McEwan.
