The Central and Southern Downs has more than its share of state and national representatives and Hamish Muller from Clifton is the latest. He debuted for the Queensland Reds rugby union side on a recent tour to Japan. Muller grew up in the Clifton area and now plays for the Brothers club in Brisbane.

"Hamish impressed us in the month-long period before the tour when we invited into Reds training some of the best from club rugby," Reds head coach Les Kiss said. "He proved himself with some hard carries and good involvement in the trial in Japan and thoroughly deserved his Queensland debut against the Wild Knights the following week. It was really satisfying to seem him take the next step."

The Reds forward played in a 42-28 win against a Wild Knights team coached by former Australian coach Robbie Deans. Allora prop Greg Holmes was a long time Reds player and Clifton second rower Andrew Jones one of the best to play Darling Downs rugby for Warwick.
