Grand Opening of Warwick’s new canine off-leash area
Dog park opens
By Jay Fegan
Victoria Park was a-buzz, or dare I write it, a-bark with the grand opening of Warwick's new dog off-leash area for the first day of spring, September 1, and your free, local newspaper captured the enthusiasm.
Southern Downs Regional Mayor, Melissa Hamilton, alongside excited dog owners and their furry companions, marked the event with enthusiasm.
Other Councillors were also in attendance including Cynthia McDonald, Joel Richters and Sheryl Windle.
“This new dog off-leash area is a haven for hounds and a fantastic addition to our community’s open spaces, providing a safe and controlled environment for our dogs to run, play, and socialise,” Councillor Windle said.
There were many dogs of all breeds and sizes, strutting their stuff in a variety of entertaining categories. These ranged from pooches showing off their skills, to a springtime pooch parade, the events emphasising fun and the joy of bringing the community together.
The dog park features three separate fenced areas catering to dogs of all sizes, ensuring a enjoyable and safe space to run and play. Dog waste bins, waste bags and water access has been incorporated to provide a comfortable experience for both pets and their owners.
Attendees and their furry friends enjoyed a morning filled with friendly competition, plenty of giveaways and free information for pet owners on responsible ownership and tip and tricks for a happy and health pooch.
The Town & Country Journal collectively think this is a great way to kick off our springtime fun in the sun and invite readers to send us their pooch pictures, from this dog park or any in the region, for future publication. Email editor@thedailyjournal.ink to do so. Happy spring!
