Cast of “Artiface” praised

Director Elise O'Brien praised the cast of "Artifice" after their fourth and final performance last Saturday night, saying they are "the best" she has worked with.

"By far they have been the best cast," she told our newspaper on June 8. "They have wanted to spend extra time working on this, all sharing ideas and helping in various ways. It's such a big job to do."

Elise had discerned various plays and Artifice by Anne Flanagan was chosen for a reading earlier in the year, saying she's "always open for people to try," with five of the cast performing for the first time, and adding, "They all grew in the role."

The roles were Judith Fontaine (played by Tess Dellagiacoma), Mick Fitzgerald (Graham Haycraft), Richard (Jim Allen), Gracie (Shannon Cox), Maggie La Rue (Catriona Davies), Trent Matlock (Ben Beadel), Emma (Vanessa Boulton) and Payne Showers (Robert Channon).

Artwork was made for the auction of pieces, to support the theatre, a suggestion of "a couple of hundred dollars" raised.

Shakespeare Under the Stars will be the next performance, the theatre promoting that Director Annie Mitchell is to meet anyone interested in being part of the production at the Connor Street theatre on Tuesday, June 18 at 6.30pm.
